A friend had a last-minute opening at Zero Zero Pasta and I was lucky enough to join. This little Kansas City gem has only four tables inside and a counter that seats about a dozen people, so you need a reservation if you want to sit indoors. The patio is first come first served and worth a try on a nice day.
We came for lunch and decided to order the entire menu. The focaccia came out nice with whipped ricotta and honey and set the tone for the meal. The Caesar salad was crisp and garlicky with plenty of parmesan and toasted breadcrumbs. Every pasta was a standout. The spicy vodka radiatori had a gentle heat with creamy tomato sauce and cool stracciatella. The spring pesto bucatini was bright and fresh with micro greens and a hint of pistachio. The lumache alla norcina featured Barham Family Farm’s Italian sausage in a rich sauce that felt like pure comfort. The pork cappelletti in a silky crema di parmigiano stole my heart and the Calabrian chili crunch we added gave it just the right amount of kick. That chili crunch was so delicious we found ourselves putting it on everything and it somehow made every bite even better.
We finished with all three desserts and I honestly cannot pick a favorite. The tiramisù made with Post Coffee espresso was light and perfectly balanced. The Basque cheesecake had a caramelized top and creamy center with fruit compote and vanilla whipped cream. The chocolate crémeux with Callebaut chocolate and cherries was pure indulgence.
The wine and cocktail list is small but thoughtfully curated and the service was warm, attentive and clearly proud of their work. For anyone who loves pasta or simply appreciates a cozy neighborhood spot with exceptional food and drink, Zero Zero Pasta is an...
Read moreWe had an exceptional experience on our recent visit. We have been following their success for a few months and finally made a reservation for lunch on a Sunday.
The inside is very small but we really enjoyed the decor and a peek into the kitchen. Its a true scratch kitchen with everything made in house. We started with a glass of wine 🍷 and the foccaia bread. Absolutely loved it. The next course was the Ceasars salad. The dressing has a nice lemon zest crispness and covered with shredded parmesan cheese. Instead of croutons it is covered with bread crumbs that give each bite a nice crisp. We ate every bite. The main course was the Lumache Alla Norcina. It was so good. The pasta was prepared perfectly al dente. A perfect balance of sauce and Italian sausage.
We finished with the cheese cake and the tiramisu. Very delectable.
The staff was excellent and made you feel right at home.
It was truly a 5 star...
Read morePhenomenal food and service. My boyfriend and I got almost everything on the menu - the arancini, focaccia, and the Caesar salad to start. All of them were excellent. The arancini was a surprising favorite. It was so flavorful with the sauce on the bottom.
We also got all 3 pastas available. One was a spicy vodka, one was a bolognese type, and one was a buttery/flavorful sauce that was so rich in flavor and unlike anything I've ever had. The spicy vodka was probably our favorite but they were all so good.
We ended with the basque cheesecake - wasn't anything mind blowing but it was perfectly sweet and wrapped our meal nicely.
I wish their space was a little bigger but maybe in time they can upgrade! I can't wait to go back here and it will definitely be a staple in my...
